Victory's Village, LLC is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health Services (DBHDS). Victory's Village provides Supportive In-Home Services to children, adolescents, and adults 18 years and older with a developmental disability diagnosis.

Direct Support Professional

In-Home Support Service Direct Support Professionals provide a range of services for Individuals with Disabilities to become more integrated in their communities by maximizing that person’s strengths, interests and abilities.

The aim is for the person to direct their own activities that create a meaningful life including contributing to the community and developing relationships.

Support may occur in a variety of settings and may include providing personal care, assistance with daily living activities, job coaching, teaching/developing skills, advocating with the individual, assisting in communication and self-expression, transportation to medical/clinical appointments, and ultimately supporting the individual in meeting his or her own goals.

All while performing some administrative duties, such as properly completing support log notes and report changes in an Individual’s mental, physical or emotional state to a supervisor.

Duties And Responsibilities


 

  • Provide proper supervision and guidance for residents during skills building activities

  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans for individuals

  • Assist in daily living activities, including meal prepping and assisting with personal hygiene

  • Develop a rapport with individual and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship

  • Properly complete daily support log notes on time

  • Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times

  • Effectively assist individuals in meeting their outlined goals knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Requirements


 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and preferably a minimum of one year of work experience in either a residential program or working with individuals that have Developmental Disabilities.

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Must have a Valid Virginia’s Driver’s License and copy of current vehicle insurance

  • Should also have a reliable transportation vehicle to transport individuals in the community

  • Criminal Background Investigation and a registry by the Department of Social Services

  • Must go through New Employee Orientation which will require them to complete certain assigned training (CPR/First Aid, TOVA, any Victory’s Village training, etc.)

Working Conditions

DSPs work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals in program services. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions and deadlines.

DSPs need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities.

Depending on the needs of the individual, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.
